Advertising in dentistry has its positive and negative sides. On the positive side, dentists can get their message out and patients can benefit from the extra information concerning the dentist’s education, training, and interests.
On the negative side, false, misleading or deceptive advertising discredits not only to the individual dentist but everyone in the profession. Advertising in the dental profession should be professional, honest, informative, and accurate so as to convey the sense of a profession communicating its goal of service to the public.
